Would you buy it?

I stumbled on this Marc Jacobs lining and got excited for a split second. Why? I'm not quite sure. I think it was for the reason I get excited when I see a Marc Jacobs anything, but this one was different. So I says to myself I says.. 'Self, would you buy this fabric and line a jacket that YOU made?'. Then I said 'Self, no I wouldn't'.

I'm totally for making designer inspired goods but I think this is where I draw the line before I teeter into knock-offsville. In the end, I think the ability to recreate designer inspired goods into something figure flattering on me is something to be proud of. And in the back of my mind I say 'man I could have designed that...he/she just beat me too it!'. With that said, I think the only name you'll ever see on a inside of a jacket I made is Cindy D.

SAY THAT! LOL My thoughts exactly. Could a seamstress be accused of making knockoffs if you go that far?

I love that you said "I could've made that, s/he just beat me to it"; that is what I'm thinking pretty much anytime I shop for apparel!

I also would never buy fabric with another designers name stamped all over it, but I never thought about in that way. You're right, YOU made it so why would you want someone elses name in it. lololololol

Definitely not... and if for some insane reason I did buy it would have a line across the name and my name below it...lol.

girl please I would have sewn that lining into my clothes in a second...LOL oh, te reason you cant cut out a BWOF pattern is because the lines all run into each other, it's like printing multiple patterns on one sheet so you have to trace out the one you want so you dont cut into the other patterns :)
