Neglected Views PT II

Hi all! As much I as wanted to get a picture of my dress in the daylight I had to settle for the indoor light photo......nonetheless here is my dress!!!

I previously posted on the Neglected View phenomenon that affects a number of semi-popular pattern views in light of their accompanying views. I converted the the jumper dress view of Simplicity 3631 to after being inspired from a Rebecca Taylor dress. To recreate the look I had to convert the darts on the dress into pleats and lower the neck line. Below are the detail shots. I was fortunate enough to find beautiful hardware at Joyce Trimmings. By the way, I used a small dabs of glue from a glue gun to place the sewed on pieces before I sewed them on. Be for I did that I couldn't get them to stay put while I stitched.

I'm glad I did this project because it forced me move out comfort zone and think/sew out of the box. I think I'm going to wear it to brunch tomorrow :-)

All of these adjectives come to mind to tell you how wonderful the dress is...so double dog ditto to what the previous posters have said! I just love your version of the dress!

You did an amazing job of recreating the look yet making it your own! Are you going to make the jacket now to go over the dress?

Lovely dress! Suggestion - Unless Joyce told you they were drycleanable beforehand, take a little sample to test before drycleaning. I have had some embellishments ruined by drycleaners when I didn't know the finish on my embellishments would come off. Looks beautiful!

Beautiful job on the dress. You can give Rebecca a run for her money with that dress.

That looks so cute on you. I think you need to step out of your comfort zone more often if that's what you can come up with. Beautiful job.

WOW! It totally looks like that rebecca taylor dress! But I like your beads better, they have more dimention and interest. It fits you fabulously! You totally "made it work" like Tim Gunn would say :)
